First Day Going to School

            I was walking with my Grandfather to the new school I had transfered to. It was my new school year asI arrived to the Hoa Binh School. I wore my pink backpack, having my pink jacket, pink pencil case containing pink pencil, pink erase, pink ruler and pink highlighter. I went into my class and meet my teacher. The day end, and I went back home myself. I sat down quickly and told my grandparents every awesome details I had learned and experienced today. First of all, when I learned about all other friends' names, and the teacher's biography. I was so glad I remember all of them because I had school tomorrow again. Secondly, it was the first time I can have lunch I would like, not the kindergarten yucky's meal. Thirdly, I had the chance to wear our new uniform, which I made me feel all fresh, and I like the smell of it. That is all about my first day of school. 

Riding a Three Wheel Vehicle

            It was my 6th birthday and my father said he would throw a birthday party on my birthday for me with my friends. I was so happy that I could not sleep the night before. Time flied, that day had come in anyway. I was wearing my new fairy pink dress, you know the kind of pink that always appears in the Barbie's movie, I was obsessed with the dolls, which live me completely excited for the day. It was my first birthday party with friends, so I went to checked everything to be perfect. That was when I started to realize that I was becoming a perfectionist. When the evening started, that was when my party started. I was having fun with friends and family, trying to make everyone comfortable with the serving, but actually I just ran away with friends and play "IT" on the field. Then it was present time, I was speedily unwrapping every present. When I finish, I saw a bunch of blue, red, yellow, pink shiny wrap paper laying on the ground. It was our Vietnamese traditional wrapping paper. Out of the blue, my father was pushing a bike with a supporting wheel into the restaurant. I was like 'wow' and ran straight into my father and give him a big hug. Then he said, go on, sit on it and try to bike. All my friends ran straight to me and awe in front of me, because none of them also knew how to ride a bike, I was the first one, and I had been wanting for this little bike for so long. Thank you father, you always surprise me, I love you so much. 

Me against the Gigantic Blue Water Tank

            It was a sunny summer morning and my parents told me we are going to go to a fun place. A fun place is where I would go every weekend with my parents. I was five, just  graduated from the  kindergarten school and ready to move to the entirely new elementary campus.

            At 9:13AM, I found  myself standing in front on a gigantic blue water tank with actual people in it. What were they doing? My parents told me to dress up, actually my mother dressed me up. Then here i am facing the tank again. Suddenly, someone kicked me in the butt and I felt into the water.

            I thought I would drown and die there, when I was five, but I was motivated to live due to the next school year I will have and would be able to make more friends Why should I finish my life now? Hence, I tried my best using my arms and legs pushing downward to push the water upward to let me flow back up to the water surface. I was laughing so hard after I got near the rim or the water tank, which I learned later that it was called the pool. I survived and I learned how to swim.

Visiting a White-Suited Man

"Let's go somewhere fun today okay, 桦?"

桦was my Chinese name. I asked excitedly, "Where, mother? It is that fun, or it is just like the all fill with ugly green like the last park you took me to?"

"No, no, honey, it will be much more 'fun.' Trust me this time okay?" She said softly, kissed my forehead and walked back to the kitchen to make lunch before we head out. I was so thrilled that I jumped around my grandmother, then into the red leaves that started to fall. It is autumn in China now, the season I like the most so far. Everything around me looks so romantic like in the movie described. Everything started to slow down. It was a resting season for us, Chinese; resting after the excitement of summer vacation and before the coldness of winter emerged "Chun Jie" of spring (Lunar New Year).

The time came. My mother put a black and red stripes coat on me, I held her hands and we walked out. Living in China, a very different culture from Vietnam, was hard for my mother to adapt, even though we lived here for almost two months already. After fifteen minutes of walking, we arrived to a very big orange place with white fence around, I looked up and was amazed to see a red cross in the middle of the roof, which caused me a flashback of those scary movies I used to watch. These red crosses always appear in places where people get the limbs cut off or eyes scooped out. I halted, pulled my mother's hand back and yelped, "Mother, I am not stepping a foot in there, these people wearing white coats look very unfriendly. I am not going there." I immediately squad down to the ground and started to scream.  

"Be good, if we finished early, I will take you to the theater and watch some movies. How about that?" My mother hushed. "And I will offer you candies."

That offer was huge, so I slowly stopped crying and stood up with my pinky finger pointing up, I asked, "Pinky swear?"

After my mother walked in and did the registration, we went upstairs and waited in a red-yellow-blue plastic bench. I sat there alone while my mother started a conversation with other mothers who had their children taken here, too. I am a seven years old girl, but I wonder how women like my mother can start a conversation at any time or any place. Sitting there watching a child after another walking out with tears shredding down their chubby cheeks, I started to sweat a bit. I played with my beautiful coat, grabbing it and letting it go, thinking it will be okay, it is not that scary as you think so stop imagining about the horror movies. Now, my coat was wrinkled and I was frustrated that I could not make it straighten.

Out of the blue, a nurse stood at the door and called my name. I walked in without my mother by little steps. Then she put me on the chair that goes up and down and tied a blue bib around my chest. She told me to wait. I waited. The waiting time was so long that caused me to touch the metal sink and cup to my left and tools to my right. I started to notice that everything around me was so shiny, everything was made up of metal.

Before I even remember time was passing away, a white-suited man walked right up to me. He did not ask for my name, or what is my problem is. Looking at me for a few seconds and then he walked to the sink, washed his hands thoroughly with soap and put latex gloves on and a mask. He walked back to me. Now, I see his name's tag, it typed "WANG". I looked up, all I see is his black eye bags, dark and bold eyebrows and little hair on his head. However, I could tell that he was much taller than my father was and from what I experienced, tall people are not very friendly. They are creepy and weird with little friends to talk to.

 Now, he is talking. He asked with a very sweet voice, which every child would fall for it, "Open your mouth slowly," looking at the registration sheet, "桦."

I obeyed him, opened my mouth slowly. He continued, "You are having a ectopic eruption, which means a permanent tooth erupt your baby tooth. Another way to say that is you have two teeth in one spot."

After pushing all the dreaming with his voice away, I started to listen. Then I realized that is why it was so hard for me to chew food down my throat, it was the "two teeth in one spot". I asked back, "Can you fix this problem dentist WANG? It is very hurt, and I couldn't chew candy for a few days now. "

"My dear, that is why I am here, it won't be any longer for you to chew some sweet because I am going to take it out for you." He was now facing his back to me. I felt relieved for a moment. Dentist WANG turned back with a forceps and a needle with some purple anesthetic in it. My eyes were focused on it instantly. Everything was fade out from my eye view, only the needlepoint was growing larger and larger every second. I shrugged. Sweats started to fill my palms, my forehead and my back. He continued, "Now open your mouth again." Now, he was not the sweet doctor anymore, in my eye, his aura around him turned black, his mask started to felt off, his fangs started to showed out and he laughed very hard. I held my fist even tighter, kicking the chair so I could slide off at the tail. However, he added in, "If you don't obey well or open your mouth, I will put this in your tongue."

I could not think anymore, my mouth popped instantly and screamed. He shot the anesthetic in my gum, few second later, using the forceps, he picked the teeth off my gums. I was so glad the scary moments was over and I felt something weird with my tongue. The spot was missing a tooth, so it felt very soft and gooey. I felt weird

The white-suited man turned back into an angel, gave the teeth to me and said it was a souvenir since it was my first visit to. I said thank you and goodbye to dentist WANG and went out to my mother. I looked down my cheeks and not even a single drop of tear. I felt incredible. My mother and I went out of this place immediately and strolled back to the ugly green park again. She did not take me to any movies or buy me any candies.

First thing was that, and now I am sixteen, thinking about my past make me feel so strong. I think what make me felt so strong was that I walked into the room by myself, without even hesitating or pulling my mother in with me. I felt I had courage inside me, telling me that you should try everything and not to be afraid that something will goes wrong. That is when you complete big goals and gain success. I got a question, if I didn't open my mouth, then he couldn't shot my teeth neither my tongue right? Am I right?

6) Analyze- Sone says the camp "was hopefully called Camp Harmony." Do you think the name is appropriate, or is it ironic? Support your answer with evidence from the text

I think that the name of the camp, ‘Camp Harmony’ is appropriate for it, because this section of the author autobiography is talking about the camp they were forced to go to. Talking about it people had different thoughts than what they had expected, so I think it would be appropriate for it. Harmony means calm and peaceful, so people thought where they are going to will be very peaceful.

For example, the universe students on the bus were singing out loud to celebrate where they are going. “Everyone was quiet except for a chattering group of university students who soon started singing college songs. A few people turned and glared at them, which only served to increase the volume of their singing.”

For another example, the people that were being forced were excited at first, and it should be what the section suppose to talk about, the mood of people. “We tried to sleep to escape from the restless anxiety which kept bobbing up to the surface of our minds.” The excitement kept coming until they had stepped out of the bus.

How Efficient A Mixed Economy Work

More than half of the populations will think that a command economy is like living in the Dark Ages again, and you are probably one of them. Talking about economy, people would come up with the idea of money. There are four types of economies. A mixed economy is the combination of command economy and free market. Mixed economies that are leaning towards command economies of developed countries are more efficient for citizens by giving people employment opportunities and the freedom of ownership while maintaining order.

First of all, the country employs many people in this type of economy. They give people jobs, so the citizens would not fall in poverty and famine. To not cause this problem, the Chinese leaders in the Cultural Revolution decided that women and men needed to be treated equally. Therefore, women can do any job as well as men, like farming or factory industrials (World Culture and Geography 768). When people have jobs, they would have money, or the green gold, to buy their needs and supplies. Therefore, the government would gain more trust. Because of poverty and famine’s big problems, beggars and poor people will starve and die. If a country had poverty for many years, the citizens might see that there would be no ways the government could provide jobs and food for everyone. The natives would migrate to other places causing the country to collapse.

In command economies, government will own every single possession of the individuals, but on the other hand, mixed economies let the individuals have the ownership under government’s regulations. For example, in 1976, after Mao died, Deng Xiaoping became the president. He found out that money equals power, let the foreigners into China and make money with them, while maintaining government’s regulations (Deng Xiaoping’s Wikipedia’s Page). The thought of raising its own country’s economy status worked. The plan was anyone can own companies and properties, but they must help the government grow stronger. With the introduction of private ownership of property and Dang’s quote, “I don’t care if a cat is black or white, as long as it catches mice,” hundreds of millions became richer. The four modernizations like agriculture, industry, science, and defense, were the impressive improvement. This period of industrial was a big and powerful sign of China’s success. It was worth it to change. After this period, he was marked in the history for this event, the beginning of China’s economy of moving to free market on the spectrum. The more profit those companies earn, the wealthier they are, which means the economy will rise rapidly. That will help to develop the country

Thirdly, developed countries are countries that had been improve with an economic system. Ancient Japan is one example of mixed economies closer to command. The strong young lord had causing the natives with challenging problems. If not, the lord would get angry and punish those innocent poor citizens harshly (Literature Text Book 8, The Wise Old Woman, by Yoshiko Uchida). Let’s look at the present Japan, peaceful and calm place to settle down with the help of the government. The Japanese government used their old mistakes to fix the currents problems. Japan became a developed country with a mixed leaning toward command economy. Also, citizens there have very high living standards, with gigantic great inventions. With this kind of economy, Japan can develop more and more with the same procedure while maintaining order for the citizens.

In mixed economies that are leaning towards command, the reduction of violence and keeping people to maintain order is very important. China is writing the eleventh five-years program for 2011 to 2015; the goal is to  reduce of energy consumption intensity and carbon dioxide emissions intensity (People’s Daily Online English, Significant Reductions In Carbon Emissions likely to Be Binding in New Five-Year Program: NDRC Official, November 11^th, 2010). In the last five-year program, the successful construction was ‘The Three Gorges Dam,’ the government had called the citizens to move in 1994, and they did as quickly as possible. The plan was successful, supporting energy to 1.3 billion people in this second largest country, while destroying somehow. To support energy for the citizens was worth it. The swipe of old cultural places, like temples and attracted tourist place was no regret. They started because they had calculated every possible consequence, and the government knows that these will be memorable to every citizen of China’s heart, and their descendents. It was nothing bad, the country did participate with the others for the cause of Global Warming or Climate Chaos.

Somehow, a developed country needed some regulations to maintain order by giving their own citizens employment opportunities and still keeping their freedoms of ownership. People think that they can survive on their own, well not exactly. If there were no government, would you have a great income and healthy life? The answer is no, your boss would torture you under no regulations of the government, and would people starve. Another example, if the crops fail this year, who would give you food? That’s right, the government. They will help you under any circumstances.
